Strawberry Basil Lemonade
This Strawberry Basil Lemonade is the perfect twist on the summer classic lemonade. It’s such a fun drink for the summer aandd it’s easy to make, with only five all-natural ingredients and about 3 steps! I’ve also included recipes both for a fun summer mocktail AND a refreshing cocktail. Double the fun!
How To Make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade
Adding “homemade” to a recipe name always makes the food sound (and taste) so much better. And don’t fear — this homemade Strawberry Basil Lemonade is as simple as can be! I mean it only takes five ingredients.
First is the strawberry puree. It sounds intimidating but it’s super simple. All you gotta do is add a pint of chopped strawberries plus half a cup of water to a blender or food processor. I like to save 1-2 strawberries to slice them thinly to add to the pitcher for ~aesthetics~ but that’s your choice. Once it’s processed into a liquidus puree, strain it into a bowl/measuring cup/pitcher/jar.
Then juice 2-3 lemons depending on their juiciness. We’re going for about C of juice here. You can rinse out the strainer used for the strawberries and use it again to catch the seeds of the lemons. Again, I like to take an extra lemon and slice it thinly to add to the pitcher. Totally not necessary, but it makes the drink look just as fun as it tastes!
After that, add in simple syrup, some plain old water and some fresh basil leaves. I like to stack about 10 basil leaves in one hand and then clap my hands together to quickly release the oils and thus the flavors and aroma of the basil. Also add in the strawberry and lemon slices and mix everything together very well.
If serving right away, add ice to the pitcher and set out for serving! If you’re prepping this in advance or for the week, chill the pitcher until it’s time to enjoy!
Making An Easy Summer Cocktail
To make this Strawberry Basil Lemonade into a cocktail, all you have to do is add vodka or white rum! It’s a great batch cocktail for a party or beach day, just stir everything up in a big pitcher and set out glasses. You could even make two batches: leave one as is and then add some alcohol to the other one, label them and leave them out for everyone to enjoy!

Strawberry Basil Lemonade
- 1 pound strawberries hulled and quartered
- 2-3 lemons about ½ C fresh lemon juice
- ½ C simple syrup see note
- handful of basil
- 3 C water
- ½ C ice for serving
- sliced strawberries and lemons for garnish
- Add 1 pound of hulled and quartered strawberries to a blender or food processor with ½ C water. Blend until it turns into a puree.Strain the strawberry puree into a bowl or large jar.
- Juice the lemons into the bowl (to get about ½ C of juice). Use the strainer again if needed!Add ½ C simple syrup along with 2 ½ C cold water and fresh basil. Mix well.
- Add ½ C ice, sliced strawberries and lemon and serve!
