Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, thoroughly whisk the wet ingredients: ½ C melted butter, 1 C brown sugar, 1 egg and tsp vanilla.
Fold in the dry ingredients: 1 C + 2 Tbs flour, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1½ tsp cardamom, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp nutmeg and ¼ tsp ground cloves.
Bake for 20 mins or until the edges are set and dry. Let cool completely before slicing.
